New Year

New Year's Eve is one of my favorite holidays because it is the perfect excuse to wipe away all of my mistakes and start again.  Anything I did the previous year doesn't matter anymore.  The cookies I ate, the rude things I said, the times I was silent all melt away in the past.  I love the fresh start when I can keep trying, trying, trying.  

And I realized today that that is how the Atonement is supposed to be.  I am supposed to use it up as a personal New Year's Eve every moment of every day.  Past Elise is supposed to be wiped clean, and the Atonement is supposed to fix the rest.  

That's something I want to work on understanding and applying.
